Hello again HMS Parents!

I wanted to welcome several new parents that have joined us on this email list.  If anyone still knows of any HMS Community members not receiving our weekly updates, please have them send a short message with student name and grade, along with all addresses they would like added, to

Last Thursday was a truly special day for 31 of our 7th and 8th Grade students as they traveled to Murfreesboro to participate in the 29th Annual Tennessee Middle School Model UN Event. The event included schools from across Tennessee and our students each participated in breakout UN Committee sessions and then had the opportunity to participate in an event-wide full UN General Assembly Session. Four of our students (Erin Woodard, Eli Swindle, Kaitlyn McMurtry, Nevaeh Green) were recognized as Top Resolution Writers for the event and Kristi Kaas was named as an overall top performer/delegate for the entire event!! Thanks so much to Mr. McCoy, Dr. Edwards, and Ms. Parker for organizing this incredible opportunity for our students!!

We want to thank all in our community that came to join us for our Veterans Day celebration this past Friday morning.  It was a truly special event for our staff, students, and community members and I can’t say enough thanks to all of those individuals from across our building that put so much work into making this event an incredible success!

We can still take fundraiser orders if your student forgot to bring them in on Friday.  Please be sure those orders are turned into homeroom teachers as soon as possible this week.

Our first school-wide Positive Behavior Event of the year will be taking place this Friday afternoon from 1:20-1:45 at HMS.  We will be having an in-school dance and several other exciting activities for our students in order to celebrate the wonderful and positive behaviors exhibited by the vast majority on HMS students on a consistent basis.  As a reminder, the behavior window for this specific event (as previously mentioned) runs October 23rd-November 16th.  Students that have exhibited consistent positive behaviors across the board in their grade levels during this time will be invited to attend the event.

If your student has not already, please have them visit the link below and fill out this interest survey!

Just a reminder about our Parent Policy Discussion Night that is coming up on November 28th from 6:15-7:00 in the HMS Library.  Representatives from all grade levels will be in attendance and this will be your chance to ask any and all questions you may have regarding the operation of our school.  The event will continue into our gym that evening as our Chorus will present their first full concert to the HMS Community at 7:00pm.  We hope you can join us at HMS that night!
