Hello again everyone:

Awesome awesome day last Friday with our HMS Faculty Twitter Challenge!  Our theme was as follows:  “An HMS Student that Inspires Me as an Educator Every Day.”  Staff members from across the school shared their stories and memories of some of our fantastic students throughout the day on Twitter and took the opportunity to further connect our school and community by sharing some of the great things going on inside our building!

Our big Campus Beautification Week is coming up the week of the 20th.  Each grade level in our school has “adopted” a section of our campus to focus on enhancing throughout the course of the week.  Each grade level will be spending some time engaged in cleaning and re-organizing their areas and will be capping off the week  by completing a small scale project “permanent” project that will leave a lasting upgrade on their chosen areas.  We would love to have any parent help and/or donations of cleaning supplies.  Please contact the grade level Leadership Reps below as they can fill you in on how you can help out at the individual grade levels.

Thanks again for all of your patience and understanding with our “Lockout” situation that occurred this past Wednesday.  Our students and staff responded with the utmost order and respect and we will able to quickly get our students temporarily back into classrooms.  If anyone would still like to have any other questions answered regarding our procedures or the reasoning for this lockout situation, please send me a text anytime tomorrow at 615-829-8072 and I will get right back to you.

Looking way ahead, we have set our annual Olympic Day at HMS for Wednesday May 17th and our Awards Day for May 19th.  The times for the awards day are listed in the calendar at the bottom of this message.  All awards ceremonies will take place in the HMS Gym and will be conducted by the respective grade levels.  8th Grade Parents:  please note that there will be 2 separate ceremonies for the 8th grade.  Your 8th graders will have their awards ceremony along with the other grade levels on the 19th and will then have the official 8th grade graduation ceremony the following Wednesday at 8:30am.  Myself, Ms. Bauman, and Ms. Emery have worked together to do our best to not overlap our ceremonies too much in an effort to allow our community members to be able to easily attend as many end of the year events as possible.

Don’t forget that our Spring Family Night will be taking place next Tuesday the 21st from 6:30-8:00PM at HMS!  This will be a super informal event in which we will first meet in the gym for a school-wide welcome and then dismiss all parents to tour around the building, see the presentations by our clubs and grade levels, and visit with teachers.  We hope to see you all there!
