Week of Feb 20

Hello again everyone:

This has been a challenging and difficult week for educators, parents, students, and community members across the nation and we want to thank all of those in our community that have reached out to show support for our school.

We want you to know that nothing matters more to us than safety here at HMS. Academic endeavors, sports achievements, or anything else we aim to accomplish as a school pales in comparison to thinking about keeping our school community as safe as we can every single day. This is an amazing school, and an equally amazing community in which we all get to live and work, and we will continue to build upon that and work together to make this as amazing a place as we can every single day. On that note, we will have a comprehensive survey that we will be sending out to you a little later this week. Our school safety team is meeting and reviewing everything that we do as a school in terms of school security and we want to be sure and have your opinions, input, and advice on everything related to the safety and security operations of our school. Please look out for this in the coming days and please be thorough, honest, and candid with everything you have to tell us.

We do want to encourage everyone to come out for our Community Talent Show this Thursday evening at 7:00pm in the HMS Theater. We have 13 awesome acts ready to wow and amaze you including singers, dancers, magicians, and much more! There is no required admission price to attend, but we are asking for a 5-dollar optional donation. Our in-school performance of the Talent Show will take place this Friday afternoon at 1:15pm in the HMS Gym and will include some special surprise performances not appearing at the community performance. We want to thank everyone involved with the event for being so flexible with the necessary changes and especially want to than the incredible Anita Defrancesca from HHS for working with us through all these changes. It thanks to her that our kiddos still have the chance to perform on stage for their family and friends despite her very hectic schedule this time of year.

Tomorrow begins the “behavior window” for our next Positive Behavior Celebration Event that will take place on March 23rd at 1:15pm. Students must avoid new referrals of any kind between tomorrow and the 23rd and this does not include any student that may have a “holdover” referral from last week

8th grade Parents: While we are still 3 months from graduation, we are about a month away from when I will start accepting pictures for the 8th grade slideshow. Please start digging into old picture albums, files on old hard drives, etc. We need baby pictures, elementary pictures, sports, scouting activities, etc. from your students going back as far as you have them. Please don’t email them directly to me as I will have a separate location for them to be submitted starting just before spring break. This is going to be our biggest and best 8th grade graduation ever at HMS and the highlight of the whole thing will be the big slideshow at the end!
