Hello again HMS Parents:

Safety continues to be on everyone’s minds right now and I wanted to encourage everyone to continue to reach out to myself and Mr. Baker with questions, concerns, comments, etc. We are more than happy to sit down with anyone in the community to discuss safety concerns and we are here to respond immediately to any concerns you may have regarding the safety of our school. We will be holding a special meeting of our School Safety Team this Wednesday morning at HMS and will be having about 8 parent volunteers joining us to provide input during the meeting. I will send out something of a “notes document” regarding the discussions from the meeting in our update for next week. In addition, Dr. Beck has asked myself, Mr. Baker, and our SRO, Officer Chapman, to host special safety seminars/meetings with all of our students this week and these will be taking place with each grade level this Friday morning.

Please encourage your students to utilize the new Cheatham County School District tip line at in addition to continuing to utilize our internal safety/bullying text line at 615-829-6072.

We had so much fun last week with the HMS Talent Show and I can’t thank all of the volunteers, performers, parents, and other supporters enough for making both the community and in-school performances such a huge success. In addition to just being an awesome all-around event for everyone involved, I want to thank the amazing students of ours for providing such a positive and supportive environment for the talent show performers. I am a big TPAC person and a huge promoter of theater/performance etiquette with our kids. Packing 550+ kids into the bottom level of a middle school gym and expecting near perfect behavior could be considered a tall order, but not only did our students excel in being flat out amazing audience members for their peers, but their cheers, words of encouragement, and overall support were truly one of my favorite aspects of the entire experience. I want to thank all of our students sincerely for providing such a great level of support both during the community and in-school events.

Talent Show Results

Winner: Addie Hunt singing “Lost Boy”

2nd Place: Dylan Massey performing an Original Drum Composition

3rd Place: Rachel Baldwin performing “Sick of Losing Soulmates”

Students that attended the in-school event are encouraged to vote below for the “Student Choice Award” that will be announced tomorrow

Please don’t forget that our next Positive Behavior Event is coming up on March 23rd. Students will be invited to attend that avoid new referrals of any kind (not including Lunch ISS) between February 20th and March 23rd.
