Monday, April 16, 2018

Hello everyone!

Just a quick update for this week as we move into testing week……..

Thanks to all who joined us for an amazing “Academic Pep Rally” this past Friday. We had an amazing time celebrating our students, our teachers, and our school and I know we are going to do incredible things going into the testing period tomorrow. Please be sure your students are here for each day they are testing and please be sure that they remember that Cell Phones are not permitted in the testing environment at any time.

We wanted to share a copy of our special “Testing Song” we wrote as a school for the Pep Rally. Please enjoy!

7th and 8th grade Parents: If they have not already been collected, please be sure your students are bringing laptops to school each day and that they are fully charged each morning, in addition to calculators

8th Grade Parents: I thank you so much for your incredible response with the graduation slideshow pictures. I have about 300 pictures sent in already with all the proper documentation. Please be sure that all pictures are sent to and that they all included the attached documentation sheet. I need all submissions for the slideshow by May 15th. Please also invite family and friends to the big ceremony on May 23rd at 8:30am! Dress is black and white semi-formal for students, with khakis being ok as well! We hope to see you there!!

Other News from Around HMS

From Ms. Roberts: No cooking club this week.

From Ms. Greece: The chorus concert is Monday April 23rd at 6:30 in the HMS gym. Chorus members are to wear a solid white tee shirt, jeans (preferably holes in the knees), a flannel or plaid shirt to be tied around the waist, and sneakers or combat boots. Students are to look like 90’s grunge to the best of their ability. Students should report at 6:00 to my room.

I’ll be accepting animal shelter items that night in lieu of admission to the concert. They need paper towels, blankets/towels/bedding, large leashes (not retractable), large collars/harnesses, high efficiency laundry detergent, food, treats, toys, cat litter, and anything else that seems appropriate.

We will begin our popcorn sale this week. I need 16 students/parents total to commit (as I had to order a minimum of 16). I currently have 4 committed. The tote has 30 bags of popcorn. They are 2$ per bag. Students must sale the entire tote. I will need the $60 before May 15th. The tote is theirs to keep! This will help pay for awards hopefully this and next year. Please consider helping. I’m aware there are other fundraisers occurring and apologize that this had to o cut simultaneously.

From Ms. Burgess: Fifth grade team would like to thank the parents for all the donations provided for last week and for testing. It was a successful TCAP Camp week and we know the students are going to do amazing on the test. As teachers we couldn’t have had such an awesome week without the support of our parents!!! Thank you!

From Coach Greer: Wednesday is 8th grade night for softball ceremonies will start at 4:30 game at 5pm

Thursday Cheatham at home 5pm

From Mr. Cooper: Congratulations to the members of the 7th and 8th Grade Band for their concert on Thursday. Excellent work by all.

Do you still play you band instrument? We would love for you to join us in a community participation concert on Thursday, May 17. Please contact Mr. Cooper if you are interested.
